About Us

Community Building Management is a specialist social enterprise that operates a supported housing scheme. We deliver individually tailored supported living, offending behaviour programmes and community interventions to young people aged 16+. The social and emotional development of young people is key to the programme of care we provide. Our therapeutic consultants and support workers offer guidance and support to carers, and work directly with the young people in need. These support mechanisms help us collectively to achieve positive change for the better.

Assessment and counselling are an integral part of our ongoing process, reviewing essential social history on receipt so that we are able to achieve a successful programme of individualised care. This is not “assistive living,” which is often associated with older adults, but rather a residential, multi-disciplinary centre that offers independent and transitional living.

There are many diverse reasons why a young adult may need an assisted living programme, but the goal is to enable independence, confidence, and stability. Our counsellors meet with them and their family or partners (where applicable) to explain what the programme will involve in a co-produced way, as a team around the young person.

Our counsellors and support workers help young people to complete assessments and identify specific skills they already possess, as well as additional skills they must learn in order to live independently. The appropriate level of entry into basic to advanced living skills training is based on these assessments, discussed with the young people, and includes setting SMART target dates, which are then incorporated into a service plan.

Consistent reassessments are necessary to monitor progress and to note changes and achievements. Our counsellors and support workers assist young people in assessing their skill levels and updating the service support and risk management plans accordingly. To be successful, it is critical that each young person takes ownership of their plan and that it is co-produced, so they feel a sense of belonging and motivation to achieve their goals. We also support them within their home, school, or work environments to achieve maximum success.

We work with local communities to raise awareness, ensuring that the young people in our care are empowered to play a positive and active role in their local area. They are encouraged to join local groups, clubs, and activities, which are key to building their social skills and increasing their awareness of what is happening within their community.

We constantly aim to improve the quality of services for young people by providing opportunities through mentoring, education, training, and a wide range of activities. This helps to enrich their lives, working with our partners to achieve work experience and employment where viable, so that they develop the skills required to succeed.

Looked After Children (children in care, pupil referral units, prison, and secure units, for example) are some of the most disadvantaged groups in our society. A large proportion of these young people leave institutions with little or no qualifications, low aspirations, poor health, and limited opportunities to gain meaningful and sustainable employment. Homelessness can become a frequent issue in their young lives and, for example (though not exhaustively), they may be drawn into negative lifestyles involving drugs and crime. Over time, this can result in involvement in the adult prison system if early interventions are not identified and implemented, which could otherwise address these barriers and change their pathway in a more positive direction.

Community Building Management’s delivery of individually tailored, holistic supported living packages is key and provides maximum support from the outset. This approach assists young people in reaching independence more quickly and, more importantly, adapts each plan to achieve success at every developmental stage where there may have been previous shortcomings, now clearly identified.

We are set up to work across local authorities to meet their specific, bespoke requirements, recognising that our aims and ethos are always aligned with the “Every Child Matters” agenda. This is paramount and is reflected in our daily care approach to both the young people in our accommodations and our referral agencies and partners.

Our dedicated and skilled staff thrive on utilising and developing competencies within their everyday working environments to deliver the best possible practices and ensure that core, crucial elements are consistently recognised and replicated.
