Therapeutic

Our counsellors and therapeutic support workers will formulate an initial risk assessment plan within the young person’s first 24 hours. We then seek to implement support mechanisms for children and young people with emotional needs, behavioural difficulties, and mild learning disabilities. We will assess the needs of each individual and provide bespoke care plans with our multidisciplinary team who can offer specialist support.

Details will be given and explained clearly on what the individual will need to achieve in order to keep their placement from breaking down, and the type of positive behaviour that will be expected of them during their tenure, and of course what the consequences will be if the agreements are not adhered to.

This is to create reasonable boundaries to help support them in their future independent lives. This will be verbally explained and given to the young person in writing, with them signing up to this upon admission.

However, we understand the wide range of challenges that young people face, and if agreements are broken, they will be given support and mechanisms to understand why certain negative patterns of behaviour are unacceptable, as well as a complementary action plan identified through our registered in-house psychotherapist.

Working therapeutically and utilising integrative models of therapy (Cognitive Behavioural, Humanistic, and Psychodynamic approaches) will illustrate to young care leavers various ways they can be helped through our sessions, through the delivery of new initiatives in consultation with them. Information will be readily available in an environment where they feel safe, and information will be relayed by a team of adults who are experienced and confident in working with young people with varying complex issues. We will work collaboratively with local authorities and partner organisations, who will support and integrate collectively with the services we provide.
